As the only son of the co-founder, Mr. Harvey C. Phifer. None of these pictures would have been possible without his love of me & the love we shared, which was racing in all of it's diverse forms. It was he that was not willing to be just another spectator in the crowd. It was his dream to make Motorsports as a whole, a safer place for all competitors as well as the spectators. This is how he, Jerry Haymore & another good friend who happened to be an Attorney formed: The Speedway Volunteer Firemen's Association of America. That became the first Volunteer Fire Department, officially recognized by the state of California in 1971 as the first Volunteer highly specialized group of people dedicated towards providing the highest level of fire safety for all organization's & group's that make up are motorized racing industry.
