Well the project is now on hold. I have been looking around to find Someone that know how to replace the stringers, floor and kick board in the Magnum. I have found two guy's that most of the racers use when they need glass work. Both of them are AZ.  one in Phoenix and one in Havasu City. the prices range from $5,500.00 to $6,000.00.

At first the plan was that I was going to replace the floor which is the easy part. But when I found out that it needed  stringers that is something that I don't think I can do.One reason way is first you have to cut the deck off and strip off all the glass from the floor and stringers. remove the plywood  and stringers. All of this is not the problem it is getting it back together with out warping. The stringers have to be in perfectly  and the hull straight. If this is not done correctly it will not ever handle and I will end up with something that I can not use.

Now the Question that I am facing is do I what to spend this kind of money on an older boat which when it is all done and let's say a few years down the road I want to sale it, I will never come close to what I  will have in it.  ........................Or should I just scrap the boat and sale the trailer and buy a newer one that is just a hull and all I need is to drop my motor in it and I will be racing.

This Bezer is up for sale and it is only $4.500.00

I finally Got it off the trailer and on the stands that one of my friends gave me. [:good1:]

I was kinda of scary as I used a cherry picker and a floor jack. That wasn't the scary part

it was when I had it up off the trailer and in the air when  the wind kicked up and started

rocking it pretty good. It all most came off the jack [confused]

Ok now that I have everything off and on the stands. I started stripping the glass off the floor

and found some not so good news. Parts of the floor are bad like expected. I was curious

about the stringers and worked on the right side and found root gut on the bottom side of the stringers. [:banghead:]

Know I have to send the boat out to have the stringers replaced, so at the same time I will have

the floor and kick board done also. I would do it myself but the stingers have to be put in exactly right

and I do not have to tools to do that with. It might be some time befor this happens as the cost is

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$  [:banghead:] smilie

I thought that you might like to follow this project that I have got myself into.

I am going to restore this 1965 Magnum on my spare time. I was at a friends house looking

for a trailer for the Hallett that I have and was going to restore but, We came across a trailer

with this magnum on it that they were scraping out and if I wanted the trailer I had to take the boat.

The magnum is in better shape than the Hallet so I am going to restore this one instead.alt
